Customized 500L Stainless Steel Reactor for High Viscosity Resin Mixing in Spain

A Spanish customer recently required a reliable and customized 500L stainless steel reactor for high viscosity resin mixing. Based on the customer's specific process requirements, we designed and supplied a complete reactor system with customized agitation, temperature control, vacuum operation, and PLC communication functions.

For high viscosity resin processing, conventional agitators may not provide sufficient mixing performance, while sticky materials can easily adhere to the vessel wall and reduce heat transfer efficiency. To address these challenges, the reactor was specially designed with a PTFE scraper agitator, which continuously scrapes material from the inner vessel wall during operation. This helps reduce resin adhesion, improve material circulation, and enhance heat transfer throughout the mixing process.

Customized 500L Reactor for High Viscosity Resin Mixing

The 500L stainless steel reactor is designed specifically for demanding high viscosity material mixing applications. The customized configuration includes an explosion-proof motor and controller, a double mechanical seal, and a design pressure of 4.5 bar, providing reliable and safe operation under industrial processing conditions.

The PTFE scraper agitator is one of the key features of this high viscosity resin mixing reactor. During mixing, the scraper maintains close contact with the vessel wall to minimize material buildup. This is particularly important when processing viscous resin and other sticky materials, where wall adhesion can affect both mixing uniformity and temperature transfer.

The variable frequency drive (VFD) also allows the operator to adjust the agitator speed according to different processing stages and material viscosities.

Smooth Stainless Steel Surface for Easy Cleaning

To meet the customer's processing requirements, the internal surface of the reactor was manufactured with a polishing finish of less than 0.2 μm.

The highly polished stainless steel surface provides a smooth internal finish that helps minimize material retention and facilitates cleaning after resin processing. This makes the reactor suitable for industrial applications where cleanliness and repeatable processing conditions are important.

RS485 Communication for PLC Integration

Another important requirement was integration with the customer's existing PLC control system.

To support automated process control, the temperature sensor, pressure sensor, and speed control system are equipped with RS485 communication interfaces. This allows the key operating parameters of the reactor to communicate with the customer's PLC system and provides greater flexibility for process monitoring and automation.

The customized communication configuration makes the reactor easier to integrate into an existing production line or automated control system.

Complete Temperature Control and Vacuum System

The 500L reactor is supplied as a complete processing system together with a 38kW circulating heater for jacket oil circulation and temperature control.

The circulating heating system provides controlled heat transfer through the reactor jacket, allowing the customer to maintain the required processing temperature during high viscosity resin mixing.

For vacuum operation, the system is also equipped with an industrial water-ring vacuum pump. The vacuum system can support processes requiring reduced pressure and helps provide greater flexibility for different resin processing conditions.
